People’s Voice on Climate promotes Climate Assemblies as a meaningful, just and durable way to confront climate change.
We trust the collective wisdom of the people and believe that if people are given a chance to learn and talk together, they can arrive at real solutions to our knottiest problems.
People’s Voice on Climate launched the WA Climate Assembly to bring this new energy and hope to the climate crisis. Our efforts are focused on Washington State, but we hope that this example will encourage similar inclusive engagement processes elsewhere.
People’s Voice on Climate is an unincorporated association operating under the fiscal sponsorship of the Public Sphere Project, a 501(c)3 organization. Originally named “Climate Assembly Washington” or “Climate Assembly US”, People’s Voice on Climate makes internal decisions using a consensus model, and is currently working and meeting entirely online. Our organization currently consists of dedicated volunteers from across the state of Washington and two contract employees.
We wish to acknowledge that the people of Washington State live and work on traditional lands of the Indigenous people who have been here since time immemorial. There are 29 Federally-recognized Tribes and 7 non-Federally-recognized Tribes within the boundaries of Washington State. Tribes and Tribal people bring thousands of years of traditional knowledge to our present moment. Tribes bring an important and vital voice to the current conversation, and we honor our Tribal relations.
